The role
The School of Cellular and Molecular Medicine at the University of Bristol seeks to appoint a Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor (depending on experience) to further strengthen its internationally competitive research base in Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cells, who has a commitment to educational excellence.
Applicants who work in the development of stem cell therapies, with human stem and progenitor cell models, and/or in 3D tissue engineering are particularly encouraged to apply, but we will consider applications from across all areas of regenerative medicine and stem cell biology.
Research at the School of Cellular and Molecular Medicine is focused on Cancer Cell Biology, Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cells, and Infection and Immunity, with a strong international track record in all these areas, including for translational work.
The University of Bristol ( http://www.bristol.ac.uk/ ) was ranked among the top five institutions in the UK for its research, according to the Research Excellence Framework 2021: http://www.bristol.ac.uk/news/2015/january/ref-update.html .
The position will be based in the Biomedical Sciences Building with access to outstanding core facilities (including Proteomics, Imaging, Genomics, Animal and Flow Cytometry), as well as bioprinting facilities and newly built secure laboratories for the study of infectious diseases.
What will you be doing?
The successful candidate will bring a creative high impact research programme to undertake internationally competitive research supported by external funding. They will contribute to the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students within the School and across the Faculty of Life Sciences in the area of Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cells. With over 30 research groups in the School working in cancer biology, infection and immunity, and regenerative medicine and stem cell biology, and close relationships with other Schools within the University, there are extensive opportunities for collaboration within a world-class environment.
You should apply if
The successful applicant will be a research leader with a proven international track record commensurate with experience. We encourage applicants that complement and enhance current School activities in Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cells (research and teaching) and have the potential to collaborate with aspects of our other research themes in Infection and Immunity (incorporating bacteriology, immunology and virology) and Cancer Biology.
We welcome applications from all members of our community and are particularly encouraging those from diverse groups, such as members of the LGBT+ and BAME communities, to join us.
