The Simmons School of Education & Human Development at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX offers an exciting and unique opportunity in the Department of Applied Physiology & Sport Management. This is a non-tenure-track, nine-month renewable contract, Clinical Assistant Professor in Sport Management position. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications. Summer teaching opportunities may be available but not guaranteed.

Position Requirements: Responsible for a faculty teaching load of 4 courses or approximately 12 credit hours per semester including but not limited to: Contemporary Issues in Sport Management, Applied Management Skills in Sports & Fitness, Sports Marketing, Sports Data & Analytics, and Revenue in Sport; undergraduate advising of general education curriculum and major degree program requirements; maintaining office hours and an appropriate student-centered presence on campus; and participating in the development, growth, and expansion of the sport management program. This position may include teaching graduate courses in the Master of Science Sport Management program. For additional information about the faculty and the department, visit our website.

Minimum Qualifications: Completed requirements for a doctoral or other terminal degree in in Sport Management or an appropriate and closely related discipline (i.e., Kinesiology with an emphasis, focus, or concentration in sport management; Sport Administration; Sport Science); expertise to teach courses at the undergraduate level across multiple sport management classes; demonstrated potential as a teacher-scholar; and outstanding interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Earned doctorate degree on or before May 31, 2023 in Sport Management or an appropriate and closely related discipline (i.e., Kinesiology with an emphasis, focus, or concentration in sport management; Sport Administration; Sport Science); experience teaching undergraduate or graduate courses in Sports Marketing, Sports Sponsorship, Sport Data & Analytics, Contemporary Issues in Sport Management, Sport Finance, and Revenue in Sport, as well as courses in any of the following areas: Legal and Ethical Aspects of Fitness and Sport; Sport Law, and Ethics in Sport; U.S. sports industry experience; industry-relevant sport scholarly research; contacts and/or demonstrated collaborations within the U.S. sports industry.
