Position: Full-Time Faculty Assistant/Associate Professor
Department: Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program
Campus: Fort Wayne Campus

Job Responsibilities and Duties:
Manchester University seeks applications for Full-Time Faculty for its new Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program. The Full-Time Faculty will be responsible for assisting the Program Director (PD) and the Director of Clinical Education (DCE) develop the new program, including didactic and clinical education coursework, program assessment plans, and other program projects as required. The Full-Time Faculty will be committed to assisting the program to achieve its mission with academic excellence, student success, and advancement of the profession and the University. The Full-Time Faculty will report to the DPT Program Director.

Essential Job Functions:
Teaching:
  • Contribute to designing, implementation, and evaluation of individual didactic and clinical education courses
  • Execute roles of 'Course Coordinator' and 'Lead Instructor' as assigned
  • Utilize student assessments to improve teaching, coursework, and curriculum
  • Identify and develop creative, challenging and evidence-based learning opportunities for students
  • Demonstrated expertise in student assessment and evaluation

Scholarship:
  • Identify and implement a well-defined scholarly agenda that is appropriate to achieve program mission, and as outlined by CAPTE accreditation standards
  • Present and publish scholarly work consistent with the program and institutional policies
  • Continuously advance contemporary academic knowledge and clinical skills for content area expertise and professional growth

Institutional and Professional Service:
  • Serve on the assigned program and university committees
  • Contribute in local/regional/national professional associations
  • Represent the program and institution in the community and/or professional activities in the region
  • Utilize the release time to enrich the program by engaging in clinical practice, consultations, community outreach programs, advanced degree, research, service
  • Participating in faculty governance, including attending meetings - entire faculty, division, department, and committee

Administration:
  • Counsel students on academic and professional aspects as needed
  • Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and training of new faculty and/or staff as required
  • Complete annual self-evaluations and identify goals for the next year
  • Actively participate in faculty development opportunities to meet professional goals
  • Accomplish other administrative duties as assigned and/or required

Other Collaborations:
  • Serve the University, profession, and community as needed
  • Adhering to the policies and procedures outlined in the faculty and employee handbook
  • Contribute to a collaborative departmental culture that promotes teamwork and a positive esprit de corps.
  • Develop a culture of student success throughout the program, culminating confidence in graduates as they prepare to take the NPTE (National Physical Therapy Examination).


Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
  • A commitment to fostering an environment of diversity and inclusion among students, faculty, and staff.
  • Terminal academic doctorate from an accredited institution (PhD, EdD, DSc) or a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT or tDPT).
  • A commitment to Inter-Professional Education (IPE) in health sciences
  • Evidence of active research and scholarly agenda
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize technology to enhance instruction and student learning

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Licensed to practice as a physical therapist in Indiana or eligible to get license transferred to the State of Indiana
  • Experience in teaching areas of anatomy, neuroanatomy, clinical neurosciences, exercise physiology, wellness, and foundational evaluation and treatment.
  • Three (3) years of full-time post-licensure physical therapy clinical practice experience
  • Active in service at local, state, or national levels

Work Schedule: Onsite classes are generally scheduled between 8 am and 5 pm. Some classes, laboratories, events, and/or meetings may be scheduled in the evening or on weekends.
