Position Announcement Summary
Palo Alto University (PAU) invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions in Psychology at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, with research, teaching, and/or clinical practice expertise in one or more of the following areas: neuropsychology, trauma, and/or forensic psychology. Expertise in more than one area is very beneficial as this would increase opportunities of collaboration among the faculty and strengthen multiple areas of emphasis already offered at PAU. We would particularly welcome individuals with one of these specialties who also have skills and interest in teaching statistics and research methods courses as well as providing statistical consultation to students to inform their dissertation analyses. The faculty's expertise should also include an understanding of the concepts of institutional and structural racism and bias and their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities. These activities will promote the department's strategic goals to elevate academic and clinical training standards, integrity, and reputation in an environment that values inclusive excellence as well as recruit and retain a diverse community of outstanding faculty, staff, and academic leaders in an equitable, inclusive, and positive workplace.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Teaching 18 units of courses (about 1 to 2 courses per quarter; or about 5 courses in an academic year)
  • Mentoring doctoral, master's, and undergraduate students
  • Running an active and productive program of research that includes mentoring student research; and
  • Engaging in department and university service

Psychology Department Information:

PAU operates an in-house community clinic, the Gronowski Center, and advanced students are placed at off-site practicum placements around the Bay Area, including VA Medical Centers, community clinics, and schools.

We are committed to building research and training programs that promote diversity from all areas of psychology. This work is being done through the Latinx Task Force, I4Health, and the undergraduate summer bridge program (funded by the APA CEMRRAT grant for ethnic minority recruitment, retention and training of students in psychology) represent some of our current diversity work within the department.

Minimum Requirements:
  • A PhD, PsyD, or a doctorate in a related field is required at the time of appointment
  • An active research program and/or excellent research potential
