Widening Participation and Social Mobility are pleased to be recruiting two new Financial Support Coordinators posts in our Widening Participation and Social Mobility department. These roles will be based in the Financial Support team to expand the work we do surrounding both financial education and financial support initiatives through student events, and education activities as well as targeted activity as part of our Access and Participation plan. These new posts will also help students manage their financial wellbeing and administer funding through the University's Student Support Fund.

The University of Southampton offer a wide range of financial support to students with the team administering the University's bursary programme, our Student Support Fund of more than £500,000 which offers non-repayable grants to students in hardship as well as funding for equipment, trips and opportunities and wellbeing. The team also administer funding through the US Federal Loans scheme. Due to the rising costs of living and the impact on students, these roles will ensure the university can respond to the needs of our students supporting those in difficulty and working proactively to identify ways to mitigate the impact of financial difficulty or hardship on their ability to remain and thrive in their studies.

The successful candidate/s will understand the impact of financial inequalities that can impact students in higher education and can take a compassionate and supportive approach to working with service users. You will be a strong communicator who can work well in a team and in partnership with students to design and deliver activities which engage those at risk of withdrawing. This role may suit someone with experience in education, youth work, advocacy and advice, event planning, customer service or for recent graduates who understand the higher education experience.

The roles are advertised as full time, but we will consider job shares or part time hours for the right candidate. Student Success are currently working on a hybrid basis and expect this to continue for the foreseeable future.

If you would like to discuss the role in more detail please contact Florence Harvey, Head of Student Success ( F.harvey@soton.ac.uk )

We aim to be an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
