The University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Family Medicine and Community Health is seeking Family Medicine physicians to join the department as faculty in our community clinic and residency clinic locations. Join a community passionate in pursuing salutogenic science (the origins of health).

Family Medicine physician faculty at DFMCH provide the full spectrum of family medicine skills, as well as clinical teaching of residents and/or medical students and other learners. Our clinics offer a variety of practice options for both full-time and part-time, with urban underserved to rural populations, outpatient only, non-surgical obstetrics, integrative health, OMT, urgent care, as well as some inpatient options. Our clinic locations are primarily located in Dane county, with a few locations just outside of Dane county.

Duties may include:
  • Provide full spectrum family medicine with a variety of procedures, as well as some opportunities inclusive of maternity care (OB).
  • Community clinic faculty provide patient care in outpatient clinic setting and work with learners in the clinics.
  • Residency clinic faculty have a combination of patient care, residency staffing, residency education duties, and academic/scholarly time.
  • Clinics employ collaborative care team members and have on-site lab, x-ray, physical therapy, behavioral health, pharmacy, and more.
  • There are opportunities for additional teaching options within the medical school, as well as committee work and other initiatives. Faculty are supported and encouraged to pursue growth opportunities, committee work, and be part of collaborative initiatives with other parts of UW Health and within the School of Medicine and Public Health.

About DFMCH:

The University of Wisconsin Department of Family Medicine and Community Health (UW DFMCH) is a large, tier-one clinical department in the UW School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH). Ranked fifth in the nation among academic family medicine departments, DFMCH and its associated UW Health clinic operation has over 750 employees, including 171 faculty and an additional 261 clinical adjunct faculty located throughout the state. The DFMCH is committed to patient care while also offering outstanding educational and research programs. Over 150 residents and more than 400 medical students train in the department each year. In FY2021, our physicians and residents practicing at 17 clinics throughout the state managed over 338,000 patient visits-an integral part of the department's success. Research funding from the NIH and other state, federal and private sources exceeded $7.8 million in FY2021 and supported several areas of interest including major research projects in pain management, addiction and substance misuse prevention and treatment, and infectious disease surveillance.
