Description
The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, University of Washington, seeks an academic pathologist focused on autopsy, neuropathology, and ocular pathology, as an Assistant Professor WOT (without tenure), due to reasons of funding, to join our Neuropathology and Autopsy Subspecialties on the clinician-educator pathway. Each year the Division of Neuropathology evaluates approximately 1,700 surgical specimens and 300 autopsies. Faculty in our division have well-funded research laboratories and collaborate extensively with members of allied Departments to include teaching, research and clinical service.

The successful candidate will provide autopsy services for at UWMC-MT, UWMC-NW, and HMC as well as participate in neurosurgical, neuromuscular, ophthalmic, and autopsy neuropathology services. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in fellow, resident and medical student teaching.

Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

Salary and academic appointment at University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank. This is a full-time, 12-month service position and remains open until filled with an anticipated start date of January 1, 2023, but is flexible.

Qualifications
The successful candidate must have an M.D. or D.O. (or foreign equivalent) and be Board-eligible or -certified in Anatomic Pathology, Neuropathology, and Forensic Pathology (American Board of Pathology). Must qualify for a license to practice medicine in Washington State. In order to be eligible for university sponsorship for an H1-B visa, graduates of foreign (non-US) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the US Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
