The faculty member is responsible for teaching and coordinating Medical-Surgical Nursing III and may be required to teach one of the following based on expertise: Medical/Surgical Nursing, Pediatric Nursing, Leadership in Nursing, and/or Maternal/Infant Nursing. In addition, faculty members are expected to stay current in their disciplines and in teaching methodologies; implement changes in instruction based on assessment results; maintain reasonable, distributed office hours; develop and revise curriculum; mentor adjunct faculty; and advise students as appropriate.

Faculty members provide leadership for the development, growth, and support of the College and the assigned area; and undertake professional community service. Other duties include supporting the mission, vision and values of the College and policies of the Board of Trustees; serving on various College committees, task forces and other groups; and participating in various official College ceremonies and meetings.

This is a full-time, 10-month position, which begins January 23, 2023. A comprehensive benefits package is included, with medical, dental and vision coverage, tuition assistance, retirement saving, life insurance, and other benefits.

Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.

A master's degree in Nursing and two years of nursing clinical experience are required. Candidates must be licensed nurses in Maryland or have the ability to be licensed.

Other requirements include:

Clinical expertise in medical-surgical nursing Licensed nurse in Maryland or have the ability to be licensed
Demonstrated competency with current instructional technology and learning management systems while possessing the aptitude and ability to resource new and efficient technology impacting student outcomes as needed
Ability to interact with students and potential students outside the classroom environment in discipline-related activities
Effective communication skills
A well-articulated understanding of the role of the community colleges and their students

Previous experience as a nurse educator is preferred, including classroom teaching experience; curriculum development experience; demonstrated ability to evaluate student performance; experience with test item writing; experience with instructional technology; and critical care experience are preferred.
