ROLE SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced data scientist to join a team of ~45 scientists within the Primary Pharmacology Group (PPG) at our Groton, CT campus focused on the data QC, analysis and management of internal and external data including high throughput screening (HTS) data supporting hit identification for the small molecule portfolio in Worldwide Research & Development across all therapeutic areas of pursuit for Pfizer. Data will come from a broad range of technologies including fluorescence, luminescence, high content imaging, flow cytometry, mass spec, and analysis will include single parameter, multiparameter, dose response, median polish, and various types of data integration

As part of the Primary Pharmacology Group (PPG) within Discovery Sciences, the successful candidate will apply their expertise in the analysis of pharmacology data and visualization tools to aid in hit ID efforts and contribute to strategic approaches on data management. Additional responsibilities include interactions with project teams, statisticians and our external vendors and management of the HTS portfolio.

The successful candidate will also combine strong technical/scientific rigor and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to deliver comprehensive data packages to drive impact across multiple drug discovery hit ID approaches. Thus, another key skill to possess is strong collaborative and written/verbal communication skills and be adept at building partnerships.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Data Analytics/Publishing - data QC, data manipulation and analysis for HTS and SAR data
  • Design and execute data loading strategies to internal databases and troubleshooting errors in data loading
  • An ability for clear and concise interpretation, communication, and presentation of results.
  • Create and create and maintain dashboards for hit ID, performing data mining and meta-analysis in collaboration with computational pharmacology colleagues
  • Managing stakeholders both internal and external to convey the principal message of data management strategy in a technical and non-technical fashion with a cross-discipline team.
  • Proactively liaise with project teams to gather information, resolve issues, and provide analysis
  • Flexibility to pivot between multiple projects, roles, and technologies
  • Curious about new technologies and solutions, constantly seeking to improve the status quo.
  • Effective experimentation and metric design, tracking, and interpretation truly affect the bottom line.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects for data analysis, storage, and visualization as well as improved metadata capture for new and legacy data.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • BS with 8+ years of experience relevant pharmaceutical industry experience OR MS with 6+ years of relevant industry experience OR PhD in relevant discipline
  • Demonstrated proficiency with data analysis and visualization tools.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools such as IDBS Activity Base, IDBS Biobook, Genedata Screener, PE Signals, Spotfire
  • Knowledge of Spotfire or other visualization tools.
  • Familiarity with Excel VBA, Python, SQL or other scripting or query tools
  • Biology assay development and screening experience in a pharmaceutical setting using different liquid handling and plate reading technologies would be a plus.
  • Familiarity with compound screening workflows, from compound sample logistics to data visualization and sharing.
  • Familiarity or experience with PCA, UMAP, ML/AI would be a plus
