The Global Supply Chain's Manufacturing team focuses on building high quality products for our customers in support of testing in clinical diagnostic labs and life sciences research. The Manufacturing teams are located in the Americas, Europe, and Singapore and produce regulated and non-regulated products that range from reagent kits to small and large instruments, plastics, and consumables. They also collaborate and work seamlessly with our supply chain to meet, and exceed, our customers' expectations.

Bio-Rad is looking for a Senior Scientist with extensive experience in analytical biochemistry development and troubleshooting for the Reagents Manufacturing Process Development team. The individual will execute cross- functional projects related to development and continuous improvement for our product lines with a focus on Oligonucleotides and Molecular Biology Reagents.

The successful candidate will utilize his/her expertise in analytical biochemistry to support new products for transfer into manufacturing, to identify root cause to materials and to introduce improvements in material sourcing and manufacturing processes.

How You'll Make An Impact:

  • Development, optimization and validation of analytical methods to support NPIs (New Product Introductions) and existing processes.
  • Analytical characterization and root cause troubleshooting of new and existing materials.
  • Represent Manufacturing Operations on new product development and manufacturing transfer teams. Collaborate with key stake holders from R&D to operations functions to ensure projects are managed on-time, robust, and cost-effective transfer of new products into manufacturing.
  • Contribute studies and/or activities necessary for process optimization and continuous improvement to assure robust and cost-effective manufacturing processes.
  • Perform troubleshooting relating to product quality and manufacturing process issues.
  • Lead and/or manage projects that comprise team members from cross functional areas.
  • Design experiments to meet requirements, support manufacturing and transfer both internal and external processes.
  • Participate in the verification and validation of new process improvements.
  • Requires strong problem solving skills, technical proficiency, collaboration with key stake holders and ability to work independently.
  • Investigate material issues and determine root cause. Provide cost effective solution.
  • Provide troubleshooting support for both manufacturing and QC in a timely manner. Participate in root-cause analysis and FMEA, interface and collaborate with various development functions to solve a wide range of difficult scientific and operational problems.
  • Work with external suppliers to resolve raw material quality issues.

What You Bring:

  • Ph.D. in biochemistry/biotechnology or other discipline with 6+ years; or MS with 10+ years. Formal training should be analytical biochemistry, molecular biology, microbiology or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience in analytical development; validation and transfer.
  • Must have in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in analytical method development (not limited to HPLC, CE, LC-MS, UV, FLD, BioAnalyzer).
  • Experience in Oligonucleotide manufacturing process.
  • Experience in molecular biology reagent manufacturing processes.
  • Requires strong problem solving skills, technical proficiency, collaboration with key stake holders and ability to work independently.
  • Able to apply scientific training to solve manufacturing and operational issues.
  • Working knowledge of and application of good manufacturing theories and practices.
  • Ability to work effectively and build relationships through inter-organizational collaborations.
  • Great organization and communication skills, adept at multitasking.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including writing of scientific and technical reports and presentation.
  • Prefer experience in regulated QMS.
  • Prefer experience in Lean Six Sigma, DOE and statistical analysis.
  • Prefer experience with ERP system - SAP preferred.

Hiring Bonus: This role offers a $8,000 hiring bonus for a limited time only. Hiring Bonus is offered for direct hire roles only and is applicable to specific positions as labeled. Agency hires and internal transfers are not eligible. Recipients must be employed at the time of payout. Payout is after 30 days of employment with Bio-Rad. There is a 12-month repayment clause.

Compensation: The estimated base salary range for this position is $111,900 to $153,900 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors. This position is eligible for a variable annual bonus, which is dependent upon achievement of your individual objectives and Company performance.
