The Life of an HCA Nurse

Labor and delivery nurses are unique among the different types of nurses because they have a very specific job: to help deliver healthy babies and get moms through the process safely. In essence, they are doing what some might consider the most important nursing job of all - bringing new lives into this world.

About this unit:
  • We have the wonderful job of creating a story for a family and making it the best story ever.
  • 24/7 In house OB Hospitalist Group
  • We have the potential to give mom's many choices in the labor and delivery options. You can use hydrotherapy, walking while in labor with telemetry monitors, or have an epidural. The patient is the key player in decision making.

Responsibilities:
  • Under the general direction of the Director, Manager or Nurse Manager, Registered Nurse (RN) coordinates and provides patient care and assumes individual responsibility and accountability for the provision of nursing care.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care is in accordance with hospital policies and procedures, applicable state Nursing Practice Acts, ANA Standards of Practice and the generic and unit structure standards
  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
  • Current state of Missouri RN licensure required.
  • Excellent oral/written communication, interpersonal, organizational and leadership skills required.
  • BLS certification required at hire and maintained.
  • ACLS required within 6 months.
  • NRP required within 90 days of hire.
  • Intermediate Fetal Monitoring (IFM) required within 6 months.
