The Department of Strategic Communication at the University of Miami's School of Communication is seeking applications for a full-time lecturer to teach in the Public Relations program, beginning in August 2023. The position entails teaching eight courses per year, as well as academic advising of undergraduate students. A master's degree in public relations, communication, or a related field is required. A minimum of five years of professional experience in public relations is required.
Successful candidates must have the ability to teach courses in at least three of the following core areas of Public Relations: PR Principles, PR Strategy Development, Writing, Research, and PR Campaigns. In addition, we are seeking candidates who have expertise in one of the following areas of specialization: sports publicity/promotion, fashion, entertainment PR, or social media.
The ideal candidate will have strong public relations industry connections and will be able to help students find internships and connect with professionals in the field. The candidate must be passionate about working with and advising students, both academically and through PRSSA. Candidates also must be willing and able to embrace new technology, help students adapt to new media demands, and assist students in making the transition from the classroom into the profession.
