Job Description:

The Music Business/Management Department within the Professional Education Division at Berklee is now accepting applications for a full-time faculty position to advance instruction and engagement related to live music and the new Business of Live Music Minor. This is a 9-month, in-person position (fall/spring semesters) with opportunity for teaching during the summer semester. Contract is renewable. Compensation is commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach a variety of courses on the live music industry, including concert/tour/festival promotion, booking, ticketing and operations; venue management; personnel; sponsorships; and brand partnerships
  • Participate in and contribute to Berklee Popular Music Institute (BPMI) activities and events
  • Create and develop new courses that advance the business of live music curriculum
  • Develop, supervise and manage student practicums
  • Advise students in their academic progress and application of course substance, and in matters related to curriculum and degree requirements
  • Engage in activities related to college service and professional development
  • Participate in department meetings and other department-sponsored events
  • Maintain and cultivate professional relationships/network with the music industry
  • Work with the department in its ongoing review, revision, and development of the Music Business/Management program and curriculum
  • Advance the student experience and the work of the Department, the Division, and the College
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree required; advanced degree in an Arts, legal, or business discipline preferred
  • Demonstrated record of expertise in concert/tour/festival contracts, ticketing, marketing, promotion and budgets
  • Teaching experience; college/university teaching experience preferred
  • Demonstrated record of professional experience in the live music industry
  • Strong relationships in the live music sector, specifically with promoters, agents, managers and venues
  • Strong command of technology to support and advance the work
  • Excellent verbal and written and communication skills
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access
  • Student-centric perspective with a strong commitment to creativity and implementation

START DATE
The start date for the position is Summer/Fall 2023.
