The Medical Director/ Sr. Medical Director will be responsible for the Prostate Cancer Medical Affairs Team in the Innovative Medicines US (IM US) division; responsible for phase I-IV oncology programs within Prostate Cancer team for Novartis. This position, based in US headquarters (NJ), will provide strategic medical and scientific leadership for both marketed as well as development-stage compound/s.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

•Direct US clinical activities for assigned compound/s, provide medical input into clinical trial strategies, provide input into HEOR and publication plans and develop launch plan(s) to integrate assigned Novartis Oncology compound/s into standard oncology practice.
•Designing clinical studies and writing protocols, analyzing data and generating appropriate reports from clinical trials, actively participate in strategic planning activities representing US medical on Marketing, Development or •Global Oncology teams where appropriate.
•Extensive interactions with academic thought leaders to optimize clinical trial and medical strategies in the prostate cancer field.
•Educate colleagues within the company as well as health care professionals outside the company related to assigned compound/s where appropriate. Assist in the development and managing clinical budget appropriately.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $233,600.00 and $350,400.00 per year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/22 through 12/31/22, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Minimum Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role (Requirements):

•MD or PhD with at least 4 years of US experience in the pharmaceutical industry required.
•Prostate cancer experience (required)
•Excellent communication skills, including strong interpersonal skills, leadership and presentation skills.
•Able to work at US Headquarters (East Hanover, NJ)
Desirable Requirements:
•Prior Medical Affairs and US Medical Launch Experience (highly desired)
•Understanding of all aspects of clinical research as part of the drug development process.
•Strategic problem solver with understanding of operations and execution process related to clinical research involving both single and multiple centers.
•Experience designing and executing clinical studies with demonstrated record of scientific medical publications.
•Demonstrated experience in successfully planning and leading external meetings (advisory boards, medical congresses).
Position will be filled at level commensurate with experience.
