Senior Expert Engineering (80-100)* (f/m/d), GDD, Packaging Technology, Schaftenau, Austria

74! The number of medical device projects in Novartis. Without a safe, user friendly, high-quality drug delivery system our patients cannot take their medicine. The Cell&Gene / Parenteral / Ophtha Container and kits team needs you as an engineer in the development of primary packaging containers and medical devices to ensure that our delivery systems fulfill the highest customer expectations.

As a Senior Expert Engineering (m/f/d) you will be involved in developing innovative packaging containers, medical devices and combination products to make us an industry leader in this field. It requires an engineer who can take ownership on a primary container and medical device platform development and contributes to projects for documentation compliance and technical aspects in the area of Cell&Gene / Parenteral / Ophthalmic field. A high degree of collaboration with Novartis internal stakeholders and external partners is necessary.

Your key responsibilities:
• Lead and manage technical activities and apply expertise to address complex design, development and operational issues for the preparation and timely delivery of parenteral primary packaging / combination products, processes and procedures.
• Lead and actively participate in device and packaging development project teams as packaging technology representative.
• Apply knowledge in the areas of materials (glass, polymers, rubbers, silicone/lubricants, sterile barrier systems, adhesives) and manufacturing (injection molding, glass converting, rubber molding, assembly, fill & finish and transport validation).
• Lead change process and life-cycle tasks for packaging systems, medical devices used in development and commercial.
• Conduct technical assessments and ensure compliance in documentation for packaging components and systems functionality.
• Identify and submit the required documentation and content, quality and/or timelines for global submissions and negotiate the delivery of approved technical source documents in accordance with project timelines.
• Lead internal / external partners.

Minimum Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:
Essential:
• Bachelor’s, Master or PhD degree in engineering or material science or equivalent.
• Minimum 7 years of experience working in a primary packaging containers / medical device and combination product; preferred in pharmaceutical area or similar.
• Leading and influencing in global matrix organization; strong communication / negotiation skills & listener, actively reaching out, able to understand and connect across functions.
• Mentors and inspires others to solve technical issues / problems.
• Leads / co-leads novel projects within the team.
• Excellent skills in English, verbal and written. Other language skills, e.g. French, German are of advantage.
• Experience in scientific, technical publications and to present topics / knowledge gained at external / internal conferences.

In accordance with Austrian law, we are obliged to disclose the minimum salary as stated in the collective bargaining agreement. For this position the minimum salary is ₠ 54.788,30/year (on a full time basis). In most cases, the actual salary will be higher, as we strive to maintain a competitive position in the market and consider your previous experience, qualifications and individual competencies.
