Position Title Postdoctoral Associate, Occupational Therapy

A Postdoctoral Associate position is available in the Brain Function and Recovery Lab ( BFR Lab) at the University at Buffalo under the supervision of Dr. Ghazala Saleem . The successful candidate will be involved in cutting-edge research projects aimed at identifying the cognitive and motor effects of traumatic brain injury using various methodologies including for fMRI and EEG in both children and survivors of intimate partner violence. The successful candidate will also use neuromodulation in patients with traumatic brain injury. The BFR lab is equipped with state of the art posturography machine and neuromodulation apparatus.

This position will:
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and properly use laboratory equipment including computer systems and data acquisition devices
  • Recruit and schedule study subjects
  • Follow research protocols such as obtaining informed consent and administering clinical assessments
  • Prepare subjects for posturography and neuroimaging analyses
  • Data collection both in lab using lab equipment and in real-world settings
  • Documentation and data management
  • Analysis of behavioral and neuroimaging data using software such as MatLab, R, Labview, SPSS , and Microsoft Excel

Minimum Qualifications
  • Terminal degree such as PhD, EdD, or SCD
  • Basic training in neuroscience or psychology
  • 2+ years of human subject research experience with at least 1 year of research at the graduate level
  • Strong background in neuro and musculoskeletal anatomy.
  • Ability to interact with faculty, staff, students, and research participants
  • Organization, problem solving, and analytical thinking
  • Effective written and verbal communication
  • Initiative to work independently
  • Strong interest in using multidisciplinary research approaches and be highly motivated to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in research related to neurophysiology, exercise physiology, and/or kinesiology
  • Background in traumatic brain injury research
  • Biomedical Engineering research background
