Summary:
  • Reporting directly to the University Director of Online Innovation, the User Experience Researcher (UxR) is an integral member of the Innovation Lab team and brings the voice of our students to the center of designing new learning experiences.The UxR is responsible for creating plans and executing collection of user feedback to assess the impact of new ideas, content, technologies, and products on the student and faculty experience.
  • The UxR will support Innovation Lab projects by supporting project managers and innovation leadership design and test the theory of change for existing and new products. This includes identifying appropriate metrics and thresholds for success at the outset of projects, then collecting, analyzing, and interpretinguser data and prepare reports with quick turnaround.
  • Collaborates with internal staff and external partners to design and execute user feedback sessions adopting a design thinking framework, starting from participant recruitment to piloting with appropriate efficacy experiments throughout the project life cycle.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the lab operates with transparent governance while maintaining accurate records of all projects in a centralized repository.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and conduct appropriateprimary and secondary user and efficacy research to evaluate ideas, technologies, content, and designs to inform the decision process at various stages of the innovation framework.
  • Contribute to our culture of transparent governance by collecting and reporting on innovation framework metrics.
  • Leverage institutional systems and resources to engage students in the design thinking process and measure student outcomes as it relates to pilot projects and efficacy tests.
  • Write reports including findings and recommendations that drive design improvements and enhance learning experiences.
  • Primary responsibility of ensuring that all projects and ideas flow through the stage gate framework with proper documentation.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Educational Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, or related field.

Licenses/Certifications:
  • Certification or course work in relevant fields such as User-Centered Design, Design Thinking, and/or Innovation Management preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
  • Prior experience designing and conducting program evaluations, usability studies, efficacy studies, and conduct design thinking driven user feedback sessions.
  • Proficient in writing white papers, technical documents, and project reports.
  • Experience collaborating with faculty and users from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds, technical expertise, and education levels.
  • Strong understanding of both qualitative and quantitative research methods and how to apply them in the context of improving teaching and learning.
  • Ability to analyze data using SPSS, Stata, R, and/or other statistical software preferred.
  • Transact SQL data retrieval and analysis preferred.
  • Must be able to work a hybrid schedule where you will work in the office 3 days/week and from your home office 2 days/week.
