The faculty member performs teaching duties and professional service for the College. Duties include, but are not limited to, providing on campus and remote instruction as assigned; conducting and assessing instruction; developing and/or modifying curriculum; assisting students through academic advising; establishing, posting, and maintaining office hours; providing leadership for the development, growth, and support of the College and the assigned area; and undertaking professional community service.

Other duties include supporting the mission, vision and values of the College and policies of the Board of Trustees; serving on various College committees, task forces and other groups; and participating in various official College ceremonies and meetings.

This is a full-time, 10-month, tenure-track position which begins August 15, 2023.

A master's degree in Social Work or Human Services and presentation, content development, and training experiences typical to the social work profession are required. Other requirements include:
  • Ability to teach a range of social work and sociology courses, such as Introduction to Social Work, Introduction to Sociology, Marriage and the Family, etc. by drawing on face-to-face, online, and hybrid course delivery methods.
  • Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Certified Social Worker - Clinical (LCSW-C) or relevant licensure within 6 months of employment.
  • Licensure needs to remain current once obtained or renewed prior to expiration.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of diverse social work topics such as child welfare, advocacy, mental health, family systems, and substance abuse, and evidence-based research.
  • Demonstrated experience building partnerships with relevant organizations and stakeholders in the community.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate group experiences, experiential learning, internships, co-ops, service learning, or experience in leading evidence-based training.
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience assessing outcomes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the requirements of social work and/or human services academic programs and Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) policies and regulations.
  • Demonstrated competency with current technology.
  • Ability to interact with students and prospective students outside the classroom environment in discipline-related activities, while facilitating successful student learning through the effective use of technology.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and possess a well-articulated understanding of the role of community colleges and their students.

Teaching experience at the college level, clinical experience as a Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical (LCSW-C), experience with learning management systems such as Blackboard, and the ability to create a culturally responsive and inclusive classroom experience are preferred.
