The Division of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Schreiner University in Kerrville, TX invites applications for a tenure track position as Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering to begin August 2023. Schreiner University launched a new General Engineering program in Fall 2022 with tracks in Mechanical and Civil and is pursuing ABET accreditation. The successful candidate will expand our engineering degree with a new track in Biomedical Engineering, as well as an interdisciplinary minor in Biomechanics in partnership with our Exercise Science department. We seek an individual with a strong commitment to undergraduate education in a liberal arts environment, and leadership potential to develop and grow this new program. Primary responsibilities include teaching courses at all levels of the engineering curriculum, including some introductory engineering courses and a variety of upper-level courses. The successful candidate is expected to establish and maintain a productive scholarship program that provides opportunities for undergraduate student research compatible with resources available at a primarily undergraduate institution. Typical duties for the position include teaching 12 hours per semester; service to the university through committee work, serving in positions of leadership, and/or sponsorship of student organizations; establishing relationships with local industry to support Capstone projects; staying active in the pursuit of scholarly activity; and advising students in pursuit of their degrees and in future career options.
Qualifications: An earned doctorate in Biomedical Engineering (or a related field) or ABD with completion no later than August 2023. Teaching experience is preferred.
