The Department of Veterinary Sciences, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, invites applications for a

Full Professorship (W3) of Animal Nutrition and Dietetics (Chair)

commencing on April 1st, 2024.

The post holder’s activities are expected to extend into teaching, research, and administration as well as services in the field of Animal Nutrition and Dietetics.

The successful candidate should be an internationally recognized scientist who employs cutting edge methods to make a substantial contribution to veterinary nutrition.

Prerequisites for this position are a university degree in veterinary medicine or a comparable discipline, a doctoral degree or a comparable specific qualification, teaching skills at university level, excellent academic achievements and a productive and promising research program that comprises basic as well as applied research. International board certification in Veterinary and Comparative Nutrition is required. An excellent international network, substantial expertise in veterinary nutrition as well as experience in acquiring national and international third-party funding are mandatory requirements.

We expect intensive cooperation with the relevant scientific institutions within the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and the Munich research community to foster the establishment and further development of translational animal models for metabolic and nutritional research at LMU Munich.

According to domestic legal guidelines (TAppV) the successful applicant will be responsible for teaching veterinary students in feed stuff, nutrition and dietetics. Future courses should put a strong emphasis on veterinary nutrition and dietetics, while still in accordance with the requirements of the TAppV to strengthen the nutritional competence of future veterinarians.

As communication with students, staff, industry and stakeholder will require knowledge of spoken and written German, it is germane for the successful candidate to demonstrate the sincere willingness to become proficient in the German language.
