We are hiring a Sr. Analytical Scientist II, R&D. The Sr. Analytical Scientist II, R&D will conduct research leading to the development of new analytical methods.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development of robust LC-MS (Q-TOF) methods for small and large molecules to support cell culture products.
  • Interpret mass spec data for identification and quantitation of unknown compounds.
  • Use multivariate analytical tools to draw correlations between raw material impurities to biological performances.
  • Provide analytical support to internal and external customers.
  • Learn, maintain and advance expertise in areas relevant to company's products and strategic goals.

Experience/ Education:
  • Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry or related field with over 5 years of relevant experience in method development using LC-MS, preferably Q-TOF
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, with emphasis in analytical method development.
  • LC-MS method development and mass spec data interpretation
  • Instrumentation knowledge, including troubleshooting, maintenance, calibration etc.
  • Knowledge of spectroscopy and elemental analysis
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, use hands to handle, feel or reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
  • Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision and depth perception.
  • Must be physically capable of a moderate amount of air travel as needed to attend scientific meetings at conferences or with customers.
  • Ability to speak, read and write English proficiently.
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Employee must be familiar with, implement and observe the SOPs related to working in the laboratory and manufacturing environments.
  • Laboratory environments frequently require wearing provided eye protection and lab coats.
  • The employee may be required to enter manufacturing areas where higher noise levels may necessitate wearing provided ear and eye protection.
  • Controlled environments in manufacturing may require wearing provided head covering, gloves and lab coats or clean room garments. Additionally, respiratory protection may be required in powder manufacturing areas.

For California, the base salary range for this position is $91,000 to $155,000 annually. Compensation for the successful candidate will depend on various factors (e.g., qualifications, education, prior experience, location, etc.).
