Monogram Biosciences (division of LabCorp) is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Technologist) to join its clinical laboratory in it's Molecular department in South San Francisco. The Clinical Laboratory Scientist will be primarily responsible for data analysis on it's new Pharmacogenetics (PGx) platform. This will entail working with vendor software for Open Array analysis to evaluate acceptability of controls and samples, working closely with R&D scientists, Medical Director and lab management. This is an office-based position when doing analysis combined with the possibility of hands-on wet labwork. This is an exciting opportunity for a CLS who wants to be involved in operationalizing this new technology for the lab. Additionally as time allows, the CLS may be trained on the lab portion of the PGx assay and other potential molecular lab benches such as RT-PCR.

***$10,000 Sign on bonus offered to external hires***

The schedule for this position will be: 1st shift, Tuesday-Saturday. Start time is flexible, between 6am-8am.

Responsibilities:
  • Performs initial analysis using vendor specific software
  • Reviews and releases results in the Laboratory Information System
  • Utilizes Open Array, QS12 instrumentation as well as in-house software for data analysis and resulting
  • Follows Standard Operating Procedures for specimen processing, performing test procedures, data analysis and reporting test results
  • Recognizes problems and initiates troubleshooting steps to evaluate testing failures and other problems
  • Performs appropriate QA/QC procedures
  • Operates and maintains equipment and instruments according to manufacturer and Monogram Clinical Reference Lab (MCRL) established procedures including:
    • Analysis of clinical specimens
    • Calibration
    • Preventive maintenance
    • Troubleshooting
  • Actively participates in continuing education and in service training programs for licensure
  • May participate in vendor/product evaluation
  • Supervises unlicensed laboratory staff and clinical laboratory scientists in training, and provides technical guidance
  • The focus will be primarily on Data Analysis of PGx OpenArray Assay


Requirements:
  • BS/BA in Chemistry, Biology, Clinical Laboratory or similar scientific field
  • Requires current State of California Clinical Laboratory license (CLS Generalist)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary
  • Single and/or multi-channel pipetting experience desired
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, flexible environment
  • Strong computer skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Color vision-ability to distinguish and identify different colors


Pay Range: $50.00 - $62.35/hr
