Job Overview:

Arcadia University's Department of Public Health, College of Health Sciences, is accepting applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-eligible faculty position in Public Health at the Assistant or Associate Professor level with consideration for the additional role of department chair. In addition to the 9-month contract, the chair role will involve required summer hours with a stipend. The Department of Public Health at Arcadia University has accredited public health programs at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Programs offered within the Department include a BSPH with a concentration in Global Health, an undergraduate minor in Global Public Health, MPH with a Community Health concentration, and MPH dual degrees with the Physician Assistant, Physical Therapy, International Peace and Conflict Resolution, and Counseling programs. An MPH online program is in development with an expected start of summerrn2024. The department and College of Health Sciences, and University have goals centered on achieving health equity; advancing justice, equity, diversity and inclusion; and combatting anti-Black racism.

Responsibilities:

We seek an experienced colleague in academia with a background in public health whose teaching and scholarly expertise include biostatistics, epidemiology, research methods, and health equity. Duties will include teaching courses such as biostatistics, research methods and capstone research, advising graduate and/or undergraduate students, and active research or scholarly innovation preferably with funding. Candidates should have a strong interest in teaching; curriculum development and oversight; student engagement; and faculty and staff assessment, management and development (for chair role). Candidates will have a proven record of teaching excellence at the graduate and undergraduate levels, including online, professional excellence, and scholarly innovation and implementation with funding. Research areas of particular interest include those related to public health and population health, including engaging community and interdisciplinary health programming that seeks benefit among marginalized and minoritized populations. Previous experience in project management and community engagement is recommended.

The chair role will involve:

Oversight of the graduate and undergraduate programming in public health, including support of the respective graduate and undergraduate program directors and support staff
Implementation and monitoring of any developing programming, including an online MPH and other related initiatives
Accreditation responsibility and oversight for graduate and undergraduate programming
Overall administration of the department

Qualifications:

Candidates for the position must meet the following requirements:

Terminal degree(PhD, DrPH) in public health or related health field, such as biostatistics, epidemiology or health policy
Strong expertise and evidence of teaching and curricular excellence at the undergraduate and graduate level with online and onsite modalities
Evidence of teaching and scholarly innovation related in-part to addressing health disparities
Evidence of independent, funded, and collaborative research and scholarly innovation
Proven leadership and project management experience in the health field or in academia
Strong written and oral communication skills
Expertise with admissions processes, data management, reporting systems, curricular advancement and accreditation (chair role)
