Innovation Capability Head Diversity & Inclusion

The Innovation Capability Head for Diversity & Inclusion in clinical trials leads innovation and incubation of new solutions (internal and external) for diversity, equity and inclusion in clinical trials. The successful candidate will provide thought leadership, drive capability development and , act as functional expert. In addition, you will be a Practice Lead and a community lead, thus operational manager for associates of the innovation capability teams (3-5 associates).
You will partner with Portfolio Innovation Directors to understand future portfolio needs and proactively develop innovative solutions aligned to Portfolio Strategy & Planning’s (PSP) vision i.e., to engage the right patients, in the right trials, at the right sites, through a data-driven approach, at the right time. You will ensure close alignment with the Vendor Management and/or Strategy, Business Insights and Technology organization to ready impactful and successful solutions for future scale.
You are the Practice Lead for your focus area, representing the innovation team on internal committees and policy-setting bodies as appropriate as well as contributing to evolution of the industry as a whole through conferences and partnerships. You are a recognized leader internally and externally as champion for your Practice in clinical trials.

Your key responsibilities:

• Drive early incubation (including strategy development and implementation plans) for innovative solutions to improve diversity, equity and inclusion in clinical trials
• Delivers fit for purpose innovation solutions that will shape the future of clinical trial execution and ensures clinical trial teams are fully supported in their implementation
• Proactively identifies potential roadblocks and applies a continuous learning approach to drive improvements in innovative solutions based on learnings from early solution adopters.
• Orchestrates the path to scale and leads capability center associates in the co-creation of success criteria, guidance, processes, and templates for implementation with future solution owners (e.g., Vendor Management).
• Advises key stakeholders on the early evaluation, risk assessment and value-based integration of solutions from their innovation focus area
• Accountable to develop and manage new processes/templates where no precedent exists in their focus area, while maintaining compliance with current regulations (both internal and external).
• Responsible for coaching and mentoring innovation capability associates from different focus areas as operational manager / community lead
• Identifies emerging technologies and external trends for their focus area to ensure GCO continues to leverage best in class innovative solutions

Minimum Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:

• Bachelor's degree in sciences/ healthcare/ technology required, advanced degree preferred
• Passion to make a difference in diversity, equity and inclusion in clinical trials
• ≥ 5 years of clinical trial innovation and/or solution delivery experience for diversity, equity and inclusion in clinical trials
• ≥10 years of experience in pharmaceutical clinical drug development
• Has led strategy development and effectively translated into the development and implementation of projects/programs within a complex matrix environment
• Experience in managing associates and in management in a matrix organization
• Direct experience in planning and executing cross functional GXP relevant projects for clinical trials looking beyond own functional area
• Advanced knowledge of clinical development process, regulatory requirements, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
• Strong matrix management skills for bridging stakeholders (business, scientific, technical)

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $192,000-$288,000 ; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/23 through 12/31/23, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
