Dean, College of Health Sciences

Description:

The Dean is to provide day to day leadership of the College of Health Sciences, which
incorporates the Schools of Nursing, Physician Assistant Studies, Program in Cardiovascular
Perfusion, and Departments of Nutrition and Kinesiology which include the Master of Science in
Exercise and Human Performance and the Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetic Internship.
The leadership in each of these areas reports to the Dean for academic, research, and clinical
responsibilities.

Leadership Expression and Skills:

1. Demonstrates a passionate and unwavering commitment to Lipscomb's Christian
mission, values, and the growth and development of healthcare education programming.
2. Establish, cultivate, and communicate a compelling identity for the College of Health
Sciences among faculty, staff, students, and external partners.
3. Provide leadership that supports and implements the University's strategic plan,
Lipscomb Impact 360.
4. Demonstrates the ability to plan for, prevent, and address challenges.
5. Supports faculty teaching, service, and research and demonstrates ability to connect
faculty with resources to improve teaching, scholarship, and creative activity.
6. Understands the healthcare education market and is able to develop and/or revise market
driven programs that create growth within the college at both the undergraduate and
graduate levels.
7. Collaborative nature and excellent interpersonal abilities, with the ability to build
consensus within teams and diverse groups of people. Has shown a demonstrated
commitment to building and supporting diverse teams.
8. Outstanding organizational and project management skills with the ability to consistently
meet deadlines.
9. Highly self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills, asking for input and initiating
solutions as appropriate and reasonable.
10. Ability to consistently make sound decisions and exercise good judgment in a variety of
circumstances.
11. Demonstrates the use of technology to provide innovative solutions.
12. Familiarity with the expectations of disciplinary accreditors and accreditation
compliance.

Required Qualifications:
1. A strong belief in and desire to serve the Christ-centered mission of Lipscomb
University.
2. Earned doctorate from an accredited institution in a discipline within the College or an
eligible area into which the College could expand.
3. Faculty experience at the rank of associate professor or higher.
4. Progressively responsible leadership experience including budgetary oversight.

5. Mature Christian faith as evidenced by an affirmation of Lipscomb's Statement of Faith
and a character that displays the fruit of the Spirit.
6. Active participation in a local congregation in the Church of Christ heritage.
