Instructor of Art
Jefferson Community College, Watertown, New York, part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system, seeks a full-time, tenure-track Instructor of Art to begin August 2023. Reporting to the School of Arts and Humanities, responsibilities include classroom teaching of various studio arts, art history, and digital photography courses. Additionally, the art instructor will be responsible for overseeing the art classroom space as well as a small student art gallery. Successful candidates will teach 15 contact hours per semester with 30 credits total in the academic year; in addition to student advising, assessment activities, and committee work. Faculty are expected to advance the College's focus on student success and completion and will work closely with the College's leadership to advance the mission of the Strategic Plan 2020-2025.

Required: MFA in Studio Arts or master's degree in relevant art-related field.

Applicants must interact and communicate effectively with diverse populations, foster inclusion, and promote equal access and treatment for groups traditionally under-represented in higher education.

Preferred: Experience teaching studio arts; experience teaching digital photography; college teaching experience; ability to work in a collaborative environment; experience in online course delivery; ability to use technology; academic advising; excellent written and oral communication skills; and experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.
