ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF APPLIED PHYSICS AND MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

The Department of Engineering and Physics at Bridgewater College invites applications from engaged teacher-scholars with expertise in mechanical engineering for the full-time faculty position of Assistant Professor of Applied Physics and Mechanical Engineering. The duties are as follows: Teach undergraduate Mechanical Engineering courses at all levels, including but not limited to Statics, Dynamics, and Fluid Mechanics. Develop undergraduate engineering lab courses. Assist with program development and design of laboratory and fabrication spaces. Advise and mentor students and maintain an active research agenda.

QUALIFICATIONS:PhD in Mechanical Engineering. A strong commitment to teaching undergraduates in an engineering program at a liberal arts college. Experience with the development or implementation of ABET-accredited engineering programs is preferred but not required.

GENERAL INFORMATION: Bridgewater College was founded in 1880 as the first coeducational college in Virginia. Bridgewater offers bachelor's degrees in approximately 60 majors and minors, along with four graduate programs, pre-professional programs such as medicine and law, and teacher licensure. The College is a member of NCAA Division III and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, with 23 intercollegiate athletic teams. The vibrant residential campus is located in the town of Bridgewater, Virginia, near the city of Harrisonburg in the center of the Shenandoah Valley. An excellent school system, healthy business environment, numerous arts and cultural events, one of the state's lowest crime rates, and a variety of outdoor opportunities and historic attractions draw many to the region.
