Assistant Teaching Professor in Forensic Studies

The Forensic Studies Program at Loyola University Maryland (LUM) invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track position as an Assistant Teaching Faculty Professor, beginning in August 2023. We are looking for a candidate committed to excellence in undergraduate and graduate education at a dynamic liberal arts university. The search committee is especially interested in candidates who, through their teaching and/or service, will contribute to LUM's stated goals of equity, inclusion, and justice of the academic community. We seek outstanding candidates who demonstrate the ability to develop and teach new and existing undergraduate and graduate courses in content areas specific to biological forensics. The successful candidate will teach two upper-level undergraduate/graduate courses in Veterinary Forensics, Statistics in Forensic Science, Forensic DNA, and/or Forensic Anthropology, and contribute to introductory courses in forensic studies. The successful candidate should possess an awareness of and interest in high impact practices in line with the mission of Jesuit higher education. The Baltimore/Washington corridor is home to many governmental and private institutions that offer opportunities for collaboration in forensic science including ATF, NIST, FBI, NSA, Homeland Security, Secret Service Maryland State Police Forensic Unit, Baltimore Police Forensic Division and Baltimore County Police Forensic Services. This is a one-year appointment with the possibility of reappointment on an ongoing basis. Reappointment would include the possibility of teaching other courses currently offered in the department, depending upon department need and student demand; service duties, like student advising and mentoring student capstone projects; and other opportunities. Required Qualifications The successful candidate will: Have a M.S. in Forensic Science or a closely related field; Demonstrate the potential for teaching excellence across all levels of the undergraduate and graduate curricula; Demonstrate the potential for undergraduate advising and mentoring; Be responsive to the educational needs of our diversifying student population. Preferred Qualifications We seek candidates displaying a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, including an awareness of and interest in high impact teaching practices in keeping with the mission of Jesuit higher education.
