Position Description:

The School of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Arizona State University (ASU) is seeking a scholar in Psychology for the Mandarin online pathway of Master of Science in Psychology program (MS Psychology - Mandarin pathway). This program provides access to global learners who prefer to pursue graduate psychological studies in Mandarin (Simplified Chinese).

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure-track position with an initial appointment at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor or Associate Teaching Professor, to start in August 2023. In addition to the teaching duties, this new faculty member will have an administrative appointment to serve as the Program Director for MS psychology - Mandarin pathway.

About the School:

The School of Social and Behavioral Sciences is presently in a period of expansion and innovation around new initiatives and programs in Psychology, including cognition, behavior, and information, resilience in social environments, and forensic psychology. The School is home to digital and campus immersion-based undergraduate and Master's programs in Psychology and Forensic Psychology and a doctoral program in Law and Psychology.

Essential Functions of the Position:

Teaching in the MS Psychology Program and serving as Program Director for the Mandarin pathway:

Create and teach Psychology courses in Mandarin (Simplified Chinese) Effectively teach and mentor students in the online modality Support faculty and students as the Program Director for MS Psychology - Mandarin pathway Engage in service activities to support the School, College, and University

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

The successful candidate must have:

A Ph.D. in Psychology or a closely related field at the time of appointment High proficiency levels in Mandarin (simplified Chinese) and English

Desired Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates who have:

Experience teaching Psychology courses in the online modality Program-related administrative experience Evidence of teaching excellence at the undergraduate or graduate level Administrative experience related to online programs Knowledge of the Chinese culture and educational system Educational or research/practice background in one or more of the following: Positive Psychology; Social Psychology; Clinical Psychology; Research methodology Demonstrated ability to teach broadly in psychology Experience with online learning platforms such as Canvas Experience developing new online courses Evidence of excellent communication skills Demonstrated commitment to working with a diverse student population, including first generation college students.
