The Translational Bioanalytics Group (TBG) supports non-clinical and clinical studies for advancing gene therapy programs across all research areas at Spark. Our newly acquired automation instrument(Gyros xPlore) will be leveraged to transfer an existing ELISA method or develop a novel method to demonstrate instrument proof of concept in TBG and support seamless implementation of the Gyros for future assays. This is an exciting opportunity for an intern to learn about the various bioanalytical considerations and contributions to support gene therapy programs while exploring new technologies with the team.

Working closely with an assigned Lead Scientist, the candidate will perform hands-on laboratory experiments, data analyses, and equipment troubleshooting/optimization while learning about bioanalytical method development. Using the Gyros xPlore technology, the candidate will establish at least one bioanalytical assay to measure a specific analyte present from in vivo study samples. This will entail developing a solid understanding of ELISA assays and the Gyros xPlore instrument, contribution to standard operating procedures and job aid/training material for instrument use, extensive research surrounding the chosen analyte to measure along with context of use, and ample hands-on lab work to initiate, optimize, and complete design of a precise and accurate method to measure the analyte using the Gyros xPlore specifically. The candidate will also have opportunities to interact closely with the TBG team, participate in group discussions, develop an understanding of gene therapy, gain/expand knowledge of bioanalytical assays, and achieve a broad perspective of bioanalytical needs, considerations, and regulations in the gene therapy field.
