A Biostatistics Scientist position is available in the Biostatistics Shared Resource Facility at the Department of Medicine and UPMC Hillman Cancer Center at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with strong biostatistical skills in clinical trial methodology. A bonus would be to have broad expertise in a range of data-scientific methods such as in machine learning or high dimensional data analysis (e.g., with -omics data), and in other areas of biostatistics. The Biostatistics Scientist will independently lead development of clinical trial protocols and the analysis, reporting, and publication of results, as well as collaborate closely and extensively with investigators and clinical trial administration specialists. This person will also collaborate statistically on research grant applications with investigators across UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. This will include developing appropriate statistical analysis plans and/or experimental designs that align with research aims, supported by careful power analyses, and excellent scientific writing skills.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with other biostatisticians in the Biostatistics Shared Resource Facility, helping to mentor Master's level staff biostatisticians and biostatistics students in analysis and research, and provide support for medical fellows with biostatistics. The candidate will also be encouraged to conduct novel research in biostatistics, or to continuously expand relevant knowledge and skill sets. It is essential to multitask among collaborative research projects in a fast-paced and multidisciplinary team setting. Knowledge of R and SAS is essential.

PhD or ScD with three to five years of experience required. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the education requirement.
