Description:

The Keats lab is one of several laboratories in the Integrated Cancer Genomics Division at TGen. The primary goal of the lab is to identify genetic events that drive the development, progression, and therapeutic resistance of blood cancers. The majority of the lab is devoted to studying a specific blood cancer called multiple myeloma, which is associated with an expansion of the antibody producing plasma cells in the bone marrow. The average age of diagnosis is between 65-70 years and roughly one person out of every 180 individuals will be affected by this disease. To improve patient outcomes the lab focuses on developing diagnostic measurement that can be used to improve prognostic accuracy and tailor therapeutic selection. To achieve these goals the lab has a dedicated focus on improving our ability to interrogate tumor specimens through the use of new technologies and development of novel methods.
