Position Summary
The School of Social work seeks to recruit a Field Education Director at the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice who will manage a growing field education program that serves approximately 450 BSW and MSW students annually throughout the calendar year. The Field Education Director will be responsible for oversight of the Field Education Program, which includes developing and implementing field education policies and procedures; developing partnerships with agencies and organizations to establish field internships throughout Alabama, the nation, and abroad; screening and arranging for placement of practicum students; developing field education curriculum; developing and managing field education budget; and overall supervision of field program operations, staff and faculty in the Field Education Program. In addition to administrative leadership of the Field Education Program, the successful candidate will engage in teaching field-related courses and service to the School, University, and profession. This is a three-year renewable, non-tenure earning faculty position (full-time, 12-month) to begin August 2023.

Detailed Position Information
The University of Alabama School of Social Work invites applications for a Field Education Director at the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice. This is a three-year renewable, non-tenure earning faculty position (full-time, 12-month) to begin August 2023.

We seek a collaborative, forward-thinking colleague who will manage a growing field education program that serves approximately 450 BSW and MSW students annually throughout the calendar year. The Field Education Director will be responsible for oversight of the Field Education Program, which includes developing and implementing field education policies and procedures; developing partnerships with agencies and organizations to establish field internships throughout Alabama, the nation, and abroad; screening and arranging for placement of practicum students; developing field education curriculum; developing and managing field education budget; and overall supervision of field program operations, staff and faculty in the Field Education Program. In addition to administrative leadership of the Field Education Program, the successful candidate will engage in teaching field-related courses and service to the School, University, and profession.

Successful candidates for Field Education Director, Assistant Professor of Practice (non-tenure track) must have an MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited institution, at least five years of post-MSW social work experience, and preferably licensed to practice social work at the LCSW level in Alabama or be license-eligible. Candidates applying for Field Education Director, Assistant Professor of Practice (non-tenure track) must have a doctorate degree. A DSW or PhD in social work degree is preferred, though a doctoral degree in a related discipline will be considered. Previous field education experience and/or classroom teaching experience are expected. Applicants should be eager to work with students in both the undergraduate and master's programs and have interest and expertise in reaching our diverse student body through in-person and online education. The School of Social Work was established in 1965 by an act of the Alabama Legislature to address the state's critical shortage of and pressing need for professionally trained social workers. Now, it stands as the only one of its kind in the state of Alabama, offering BSW, MSW, DSW, and Ph.D. degrees in social work.
