Job Summary
The Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs & Dean of University College is responsible for providing strategic vision and leadership for all University College departments and serves as the primary point of contact for Academic Affairs on the Gainesville campus. As such, the AVP serves on the Gainesville campus leadership team. In addition, the position focuses on programs and services to equip students to progress to graduation, including Pathway +. The AVP and Dean of University College serves on the Provost Council, Deans Council and other administrative committees as needed.
Responsibilities
  • Lead all University College departments focused on Academic Success Services to include Supplemental Instruction, Academic Tutoring, Learning Support, Academic Advising and Academic Coaching, and BS in Interdisciplinary Studies
  • Serve as Principal Investigator for CAMP and HEP grants
  • Take a leadership role in the implementation and running of the Pathway+ program.
  • Manage budgets for multiple departments within University College, establishing priorities for resource allocation
  • Liaison with UNG academic departments and secondary school personnel to schedule faculty and courses and maintain academic rigor with the dual enrollment program
  • Serve on university-wide committees responsible for student recruitment, retention, progression, and graduation.
Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or other doctoral degree
  • Five or more years of progressive leadership experience in higher education.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of Banner, fluency with basic Office suite, excellent communication skills, understanding of budgets.
