Internal Medicine Resident Director and Faculty Physician (Full-Time)

$202,200 - $262,800 + per year, the posted salary range represents the minimum to the midpoint within RVU's compensation plan. RVU's full compensation structure provides a minimum to a maximum range. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to skill, knowledge, experience, education, and credentials.


RVU offers a full benefits package that includes Health, Dental and Vision insurance, along with 2 weeks accrued paid vacation days per year, 12 accrued sick days per year, personal days, 13 ½ paid holidays (if the clinic is opened and you are scheduled to work on a holiday you will be paid time and a half instead of holiday pay) and 401(K) match up to 7% based on employee's contribution.

Primary Purpose
Provide both indirect supervision with direct supervision immediately available and direct supervision of internal medicine residents in their continuity clinic. Teaching residents the full scope of primary care services which fall under the specialty of internal medicine including but not limited to diagnosis, treatment, coordination of care, preventive care and health maintenance to patients. Demonstrate experience and expertise in clinical medicine when instructing medical students in the college of osteopathic medicine including the early clinical experience in the 2nd year. Serves as the site director of the Internal Medicine Clinic. Provide quality care as an Internal Medicine Provider.
Essential Job Functions
  • Obtain health history and perform physical examinations.
  • Diagnose and direct counseling for each patient on a plan for treatment.
  • Prescribe medication in accordance with Colorado statute and professional practice guidelines.
  • Arrange referral for patients requiring services not offered at Rocky Vista Health Center.
  • Review incoming reports (e.g. lab, x-ray, EKG) sign, date and follow-up in a timely manner.
  • Comply with the Rocky Vista Health Center Infection Control plan which includes personally utilizing universal precautions. Ensure compliance by support staff.
  • Assist in updating protocols and principles of practice as requested.
  • Assist in outside medical public relations functions.
  • Participate in peer review, quality assurance, provider meetings, and other clinical meetings.
  • Sign all home health and ancillary service order for Medicaid and Medicare patients.
  • Assist staff in training patients.
  • Assure that labs, x-rays, and other studies are forwarded to the appropriate physician.
  • Sign scheduled drug prescriptions as necessary.
  • Sign off on resident office notes in a timely manner.
  • Provide shared after hour call.
  • Resource for medical assistants and front office staff to answer clinical questions as they arise during business hours.
  • Collaborate in clinical research opportunities.
  • Instruct medical students while providing mentorship and motivation for learning in the clinical setting.
  • Establish and maintain office hours for student advising, tutoring, remediation, and consultation Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
  • Participate in the assessment and evaluation of students, provide feedback and remedial assistance to ensure that the students of the students of the COM meet the standards established by the faculty and college and obtain the knowledge, skills, and competency established.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Terminal Degree (MD, DO)
  • Current D.E.A. Certificate
  • Hold and maintain an unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of Colorado
  • Good standing with all regulatory and governmental boards and agencies
  • Eligible for coverage by college's malpractice insurer if applicable
