A postdoctoral position is available immediately in a prion disease research group in the Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology at Creighton University. This NIH funded position will investigate the prion-like strain and axonal transport properties of a-synuclein. The goal of this work is to identify the a-synuclein and host factors that contribute to the varied clinical presentations observed across synucleinopathies.

The ideal candidate will be a recent Ph.D. graduate student with a neuroscience or microbiology background and experience with rodent models, surgical procedures and/or imaging. We are seeking a highly motivated individual who can provide intellectual input, project leadership, and can also work well within a group. The candidate will be joining a highly collaborative, vibrant, interdisciplinary and supportive laboratory environment.

This position is 100% grant funded.

This position will work Monday to Friday, 8am-4:30pm, depending upon research needs position may require evening, weekend, and holiday work.

Qualifications:
Doctorate Degree with a neuroscience or microbiology background and experience with rodent models, surgical procedures and/or imaging;
1-3 years experience;

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Strong ability to interpret data and to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues;
Strong work ethic;
Strong written and verbal communication skills;
Ability to work independently;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel; PowerPoint and Outlook;
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays depending upon research needs
