Faculty Director, Public Relations and Corporate Communications - Position Description

Under the leadership of the Dean of the School of Continuing Studies, the Public Relations and
Corporate Communications (PRCC) Faculty Director will lead the program by ensuring high
quality curriculum, teaching and student learning outcomes.

According to the Public Relations Society of America, "Public relations is a strategic
communication process that builds mutually beneficial relationships between organizations and
their publics." The faculty director will demonstrate thought leadership and expertise in the
cross section of the converging fields and disciplines of professional communications.

Reporting to the Vice Dean for Education and Faculty Affairs, the Faculty Director will manage
all curricular initiatives (creation, monitoring, implementation and evaluation), within the PRCC
program, and will oversee growth of the PRCC program into a national exemplar model of adult,
multimodal, and part-time education. The ideal candidate will have expertise in the field of
journalism, public relations and/or marketing, have experience with adult education, teaching
and management experience.

The Faculty Director will collaborate with a cross-functional team (marketing, enrollment
management, academic operations, academic and faculty affairs, and online operations) to
continuously advance the quality, rigor, and growth of the PRCC program. Under the Faculty
Director's leadership, the program operations team will provide administrative support for
students and faculty, manage communications, and ensure a high quality student experience.

Curriculum:
● Oversee all aspects of the PRCC Curriculum;
● Teach PRCC courses;
● Work with faculty groups to ensure the timeliness of the content and appropriateness of
delivery methods for adult students;
● Hire and manage faculty and concentration leads. This will include responsibility for
recruiting adjunct faculty as well as building relationships with and recruiting main
campus tenured and non-tenured faculty;
● Create academic and program assessment strategies to assure quality of the curriculum
and teaching in the PRCC program;
● Oversee the creation of online courses in the core and each concentration track, working
closely with the Instructional Design and Digital Learning teams. This will include being
responsible for recruiting and overseeing Subject Matter Experts (SMEs);
● Closely monitor enrollments and student interest and refine and evolve the curriculum,
as needed.

Outreach/Enrollment:
● Collaborate with the Executive Director of Enrollment Management and colleagues in
enrollment management to set enrollment goals for the program;determine the most
effective recruitment strategies; participate in recruitment events; and, identify qualified
candidates for the program; and
● Collaborate with Marketing to articulate the mission and goals of the program, determine
the most effective marketing strategies and tactics, and develop written and video
content to promote the program.

Faculty & Student Experience:
● Create and manage efficient processes related to student activities within the PRCC
program in alignment with University and SCS policies and procedures, including
admission, registration, financial aid, academic and career advising, internship planning,
and graduation activities;
● Create and manage efficient processes related to the faculty experience within the
PRCC program, including: leading the design of educational training programs for faculty
to ensure the adherence to quality standards and Jesuit values and Ignatian pedagogy;
evaluating faculty performance; and, ensuring the PRCC program is in alignment with all
policies and procedures regarding faculty life at GU and SCS; and
● Serve as the primary escalation point for any student or faculty issues that arise within
the PRCC program.

Leadership:
● Establish and maintain collaborative relationships across the School and the University;
● Represent SCS at conferences relating to adult education and Public Relations and
Corporate Communications; and;
● Become an active participant in appropriate associations, and become a recognized
thought leader in the area.

Qualifications:
● Terminal degree required (PhD preferred).
● Teaching experience required.
● Experience with an adult student population is preferred.
● Curriculum development and oversight experience preferred.
● Experience with technology-mediated education preferred.
● Experience recruiting and managing faculty preferred.
