Job Description Summary:
The Grants Manager and Technical Writer is responsible for managing the Institute's grants management process including researching, preparing, writing, and submitting grant proposals, applications, and reports that support Institute goals and meet funder guidelines and criteria. This is a highly collaborative position that works closely with Institute units and Principal Investigators to develop proposal concepts and compile and evaluate data sources. This position also is responsible for strengthening and improving the proposal-writing process by evaluating and redesigning strategies, approaches, and policies. In addition to managing the grant management process, this position serves as the Institute's primary technical writer and will create and revise technical documents such as manuals, reports, articles, and other collateral materials for publication.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree
• Five years of experience in grant and technical writing
• Experience with screening complex, technical, or specialized material and research grants
• Demonstrated success in writing grant proposals and/or other similar materials such as accreditation requests
• Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail
• Expressed proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience using databases
• Experience using bibliographic/reference management software (e.g., EndNote)
Preferred Qualifications
• Demonstrated success in securing grant funding
• Familiarity with local and national funding sources, both public and private
• Familiarity with early childhood education issues and policy
The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent verbal, writing, and grammatical skills; a wide breadth of grant writing, researching, and public relations skills; ability to present complex data in clear, concise text; independent judgment and decision-making skills; ability to facilitate collaboration and teamwork across the organization; be able to maintain positive relationships with fund providers and other stakeholders; possess creative and analytical problem-solving skills; be able to work independently, as well as part of a team; have a track record of drafting grant proposals and supporting documents based on the funding requirements of the organization; be highly organized with the ability to implement systems and follow-up processes; be able to responsibly manage competing priorities; and be committed to the ideals of early childhood education and programs.
Special Instructions to Applicant:
Applicants should note that the goals of the Institute are university-, state-, and nation-wide, but the location of the Institute administration office is in Omaha. The position will work primarily out of the Omaha office. Regular hours at the Institute and for this position are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., with some evening and weekend assistance when events occur outside of normal work hours. This position will also require some travel.
