Providing appropriate onboarding and capability building tot enable global roles to deliver fit for purpose date for our portfolio, the Clinical Operations Learning Head for Technology will provide high quality, high impact trial specific learning solutions to Novartis associates and site personnel.

• Curate and syndicate content on the GCO Knowledge Management Platform.
• Implements innovative learning approaches and technology to maximize learning
• Leverage LMSs (e.g. UP4Growth, Novartis Connect) to its full capacity to maximize just in time learning, compliance oversight and training effectiveness checks.
• Manage administration of LMS for all GCO associates
• Manage 3rd party / vendor training
• Manage Novartis Connect for training of Site Personnel.
• Manage GCO non-GxP systems, tools & tech training (coming from e.g. BITS)
• Managing the Bite Sized Learning Factory
• Leverage existing technologies and explore new technologies to enhance learning efficiency and GCO learners’ uptake and retention. Leverage technology as well the learning management system to enable learners’ easy access to training as well as managers robust oversight (e.g. learning metrics).
• Engage with LMS central team/NOLI to trigger LMS improvement initiatives to improve compliance and audit and inspection readiness.
• Leads / member of multi-functional teams as appropriate to develop and implement multi-disciplinary learning solutions, capability building or initiatives.
• Leads a team of specialized Learning Managers and/or specialists to develop and deploy learning solutions based on instructional design and adult learning principles.
• Represents GCO learning in learning technology / innovation boards within Novartis.

Minimum Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:

• 10+ years’ experience in the drug development process (i.e. planning/executing/managing and/or monitoring clinical trials).
• Proven experience of leading in a matrix environment with cross-functional teams; Intercultural awareness.
• Thorough understanding of drug development process, including expert knowledge of international standards (GCP/ICH), health authorities (e.g. FDA/EMEA), and Novartis GCP-standards.
• Significant experience in training and capability building in drug development with regards to the design and development of training concepts with cross-functional teams, performance consulting and measuring training effectiveness.
• Expertise in management of LMS and L&D systems.
• Strong people management, communication, tech savviness, interpersonal, problem solving, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
• Fluent English (verbal and written)
• Degree in a scientific or healthcare discipline. Additional degree/certification in adult learning and development preferred.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $201,600 and $302,400/year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/23 through 12/31/23, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

The ideal location for this role is East Hanover (or any other primary Novartis work site including Indianapolis, IN or Forth Worth, TX), but employees with an existing Distant Working Arrangement (DWA) or remote designation who have been impacted through restructuring will be considered for a DWA. Please note that this role would not provide relocation as a result. All home office expenses and any travel/lodging to a primary work site for periodic live meetings will be at the employee’s expense. The expectation of working hours and travel (domestic and/or international) will be defined by the hiring manager.
