Short Description

  • Develop and lead independent translational research program
  • Develop, apply, and obtain major external funding grants to support translational research program (NIH, DOD)
  • Plans, organizes, coordinates, directs and personally participates in major cancer research projects, including development and implementation of research protocols and grant proposals.
  • Reviews and analyzes resulting research data, revises techniques or approaches to work problems as indicated as necessary by research data.
  • Compiles, writes and submits project results to principal investigator or Director of Surgical Research.
  • Assists Surgery/Oncology/Pathology trainees in preparation of research papers, reports and abstracts for publication as one of co-authors, or one of the co-corresponding authors, or the corresponding author.
  • Plans and supervises training of Surgery/Oncology trainees, technicians and other laboratory personnel with respect to proper laboratory techniques, use of laboratory equipment, and safety procedures.
  • Confers with industrial, governmental or other groups concerning progress or results of research project.
  • Supervises large group of employees engaged in performance of technical and professional work, which varies from routine to complex laboratory work tasks.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Experience Required

Highly-qualified scientists with a demonstrated ability to lead an independent, funded research program, with experience in mentoring, training and project management. Translational cancer Research experience with strong background in Lung Cancer, GI Cancer, or Breast Cancer with a focus on kinase signaling, drug resistance, and stress response is preferred. Profieciency in Molecular techniques including RNA and single cell sequencing is preferred. Must have experience as a PI who prepared and submitted NIH K or R grant.

Education Requirements

Ph.D., MD, or MD/PhD or equivalent required.
