What You Will Achieve

As a Senior Associate Scientist you will take a hands on role in the application of advanced spectroscopic techniques to support drug product development activities in the lab. The ideal candidate will be well versed in laboratory operations such as weighing for sample preparation and understand the safety requirements for working in a laboratory. The ideal candidate will be driven to learn how to apply spectroscopic measurements, such as Mid Infrared, Near Infrared, UV-Visible or Raman spectroscopy in the lab for solids and liquids and develop a deep understanding of these techniques over time. Previous experience using a spectroscopic technique, such as Raman, would be advantageous as well as experience in the pharmaceutical or other highly regulated industry.

How You Will Achieve It

  • Performing laboratory work in support of analytical testing of pharmaceutical projects with some experience in any of the following analytical methodologies: spectroscopy
  • Collaborate with colleagues and other subject matter experts to assess the most appropriate tool and approach to support project activities, including use of computational predictive tools, modelling software and data visualization tools where appropriate.
  • Document experimental results and collaborate with project team members for the presentation and critical review of data, prepare technical reports and evaluation of new instrumentation or analytical techniques.
  • The colleague must be able to interact effectively with peers and leaders as part of a multidisciplinary team and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • The individual should also be proficient with a wide variety of software and information systems.
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask, and effective interpersonal and communication skills are required.


Qualifications

Must-Have
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry with an emphasis on analytical chemistry or other relevant physical sciences
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to meet project milestones under general supervision, manage expectations for specific projects, ensure delivery of technology/transfer/submission-ready technology, data and documents.


Nice-to-Have
  • Master's Degree with 0-3 years of experience with a concentration in Chemistry.
  • 1-3 years Industrial experience in a pharmaceutical lab environment.
  • Vibrational spectroscopy (Raman, FTIR, NIR, UV) experience would be highly valued for this role.
  • The ability to use computational predictive tools, modelling software or data visualization tools.
  • Experience in problem-solving skills and instrument trouble-shooting.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, especially adherence to laboratory notebook practices.
