Job Description Summary / TWC Summary:
Under the supervision of the Assistant Vice President of Retention and Matriculation Success, the Dean of Student Academic Engagement and Transition Success will serve as the strategic and operational champion to enhance student success by developing and implementing advisement and student success strategies to advance learning, engagement, retention, and completion. The Dean will provide leadership throughout the university to the schools and colleges personnel for continued enrollment and registration for student development and academic success.
The Dean of Student Academic Engagement and Success will work in collaboration with staff, provide leadership, academic support and co-curricular activities for academic student success initiatives, including, but not limited to, testing, transfer, special populations, counseling, and disability services:Develop, implement, promote, and maintain programs to increase continuing student retention and completion.

Essential Duties Summary:
- Responsible for providing information and services in support of the integration of undergraduate transfer students.
- Counsels prospective and transferring students regarding admission procedures, credit transfer, university policies, financial aid process, scholarships, program requirements, registration, and available student support services.
- Coordinates, organizes, and presents programs and events supporting recruitment opportunities at community colleges, technical schools, career education fairs, and advising workshops.
- Performs individual and group presentations providing information on undergraduate programs and services.
- Advises students on transfer plans and joint admission agreements. Develops, implements, and maintains strategies of the transfer student integration plan.
- Provides preliminary academic advising, transcript evaluation and admissions counseling for transfer students.
- Provides outreach services and serves as a liaison to selected community colleges and target transfer populations.
- Coordinates, organizes, and participates in major programs, events, and other recruitment opportunities both on and off campus. 9. Acts as a supervisor and mentor to Transfer Specialist Is and IIs
- Implement assessment strategies to support continuous improvement: Maintain, analyze, and interpret data to identify opportunities and develop strategies to advance academic achievement and student success. Use data to assess the effectiveness of academic and support initiatives and develop department and personnel goals that align with the strategic goals and QEP.
- Engage in university and community service: Serve on committees and collaborate with education institutions and professional organizations for development and to share best practices. Participate in recruiting, enrollment, and retention events as needed. Serves on university committees and performs other job-related duties as assigned.
- Demonstrate professionalism and customer service in accordance with the university's values. Demonstrate professionalism, positive working relationships, quality customer service, and the ability to make decisions and solve problems. Maintain confidentiality, positive communication, accurate records, and an organized, safe working environment. Education:
- Terminal degree in education, leadership, student support, or counseling is preferred. The degree must be from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
Required Licensing/Certification:
- None required
- Knowledge of and familiarity with the sociological issues facing urban, underrepresented, first generation, and income-needs persons in college and in the community.
- Knowledge and experience in student services-related technology and experience with student information systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships and to communicate with a diverse array of constituencies.
- Ability to be adaptable to various competing demands and demonstrate the highest level of service and response.
- Ability to manage confidential information with the highest discretion.
- Ability to design, communicate, and implement regulations, codes, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Excellent oral, written, and communication skills
- Five to ten years of higher education work experience
- Five years of supervisory experience, and evidence of continual professional development in the field of concentration of Human Services, Education or other closely related fields.

- Using or carrying equipment.
- Stoop, bend or lift.
