Position OverviewIndividual is responsible for the Undergraduate Organic Chemistry Laboratories for approximately 500 students per semester. The duties include: supervision and training of Graduate and Undergraduate Teaching Assistants; collaboration with instructors of Undergraduate Organic Chemistry Lecture and Laboratory courses on curriculum development; ensuring all lab operations comply with institutional requirements; maintaining inventory of supplies and reagents for synthetic teaching laboratories and performing basic lab equipment maintenance.
Job Description70%- Coordination of undergraduate organic chemistry labs, to include the following: implementing current curricula and overseeing curricula development; maintaining and scheduling organic chemistry laboratories; overseeing students' laboratory grades; assisting faculty teaching organic chemistry courses with lecture demonstrations, examination scheduling, and grading; implementing protocols for keeping laboratory notebooks and report-writing for organic chemistry laboratory courses.
10%- Design and test new organic chemistry lab experiments and integrate them into the curricula; organize, evaluate and develop multimedia and technology resources for undergraduate laboratory courses.
20%- Assign, train and supervise GTAs in organic labs; design and administer grading policies for use by TAs.

- Doctorate Degree in Chemistry.
- At least one year of experience working with students in a laboratory setting.
- Record of success in supervising others and working in teams.
- Minimum of three years teaching at the college level, including GTA experience.
- Excellent communication skills, as evidenced by cover letter and resume.
- Organic chemistry teaching experience.
- Experience in developing and/or performing chemical demonstrations.
- Hands-on experience with synthetic chemistry techniques, including manipulations under inert atmosphere conditinos (Schlenk lines, dry-boxes), column chromatography, polarimetry, GTIR, UV-vis, and NMR.
