Job Description:
The Associate Dean of Instruction & Learning/Learning Commons is a 12-month Management Confidential position, reporting directly to the Vice President for Instruction & Learning. The Associate Dean will work with the Vice President and other Associate Deans to implement and evolve the shared vision for the Division of Instruction & Learning, in line with the mission and philosophy of Dutchess Community College, its constituencies, and the community. The position offers the opportunity to exert a meaningful influence on education at Dutchess Community College. Specifically, the Associate Dean of Instruction & Learning/Learning Commons will have the opportunity to develop, nurture, maintain, and grow a coordinated center for learning support and exploration that will serve students across interests, abilities, and disciplines to enhance the overall quality of their educational experience.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $110,000.00.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise coordinators and directors of instructional support services of the College under the model of a unified Learning Commons, including but not limited to the areas of the Library, Math & Science Center, Writing Center, C-Step, Accommodative Services, etc.
- Provide oversight, direction, and support to create and sustain high-impact learning practices for students.
- Propose and develop policies and processes that engage students of diverse backgrounds in supplemental learning opportunities.
- Plan and manage resource allocation in assigned areas to support vibrant and meaningful student learning outside of the classroom.
- Serve on the Departmental Affairs Council, the Administrative Staff Council, the Academic Standards Committee, and other committees as assigned.
- Evaluate and introduce technology to support and enhance student learning.
- Provide administrative and academic supports that strengthen faculty and student engagement with DCC Honors Societies and Chapters.
- Collaborate with the Office of Institutional Research to analyze and disaggregate data to provide intentional and targeted resources to help students thrive and excel.
- Identify key performance indicators and analyze data sets to ensure students are accessing learning resources and those resources are contributing to student learning
- Partner with Facilities to create indoor and outdoor collaborative spaces to support greater engagement and deep learning among students.
- Collaborate with Enrollment and Student Success colleagues to design and present modules and workshops to help students gain agency and mastery of their own learning.
- Perform other duties and related work as assigned by the Vice President for Instruction and Learning.
- The performance of this work is primarily in-person and on-site.
- Flexible hours required; some travel may be necessary.
Requirements:
- Master's Degree in a related field, doctorate preferred.
- A minimum of five years of experience in higher education, including successful college teaching and/or progressive administrative experience.
- Specialized education and experience in one of the main areas of supervision (e.g., Library Science, Tutoring in Higher Education, etc.).
- Demonstrated commitment to the mission of a community college.
- Demonstrated interpersonal, communications, and organizational skills.
- A record of leadership and initiative, and of working collaboratively and effectively with diverse persons and interests.
- Demonstrated experience working with a diverse student population and proven understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion principles in a higher education environment.
