The Assistant Dean for Assessment and Quality Improvement will work in the areas of program evaluation, educational assessment, and continuous quality improvement for medical education in the Office of Medical Education at the University of Houston College of Medicine. At this time, all faculty appointments in the College of Medicine are non-tenure track. The College of Medicine anticipates being able to make tenure track positions available for application in the future.This position will work closely with and report to the Associate Dean for Medical Education. To prioritize evaluation and assessment initiatives, the Assistant Dean will regularly review accreditation standards and elements, identify and prioritize areas for improvement, and oversee the curriculum analysis and outcomes data to foster opportunities for quality improvement. The Assistant Dean will oversee the quality improvement efforts to ensure a high quality medical education program that meets its strategic planning objectives as well as maintenance of accreditation and regulatory standards.It is anticipated that this Assistant Dean will work closely with many educational units at the College including the leadership and faculty to foster synergistic and mutually beneficial collaborations.Primary Responsibilities:Develop and mature plans for continuous quality improvement in medical student education, specifically as related to the strategic plan, the core competencies, and accreditation standards and elements.Maintain databases and documentation relevant to accreditation.Monitor changes in LCME and SACS accreditation standards.Lead internal and external program reviews, accreditation processes, and other assessment activities throughout the College.Oversee annual and interim reporting to the AAMC and LCME.Analyze and communicate trends, outcomes, strengths, and weaknesses pertinent to accreditation to key stakeholders in the College of Medicine.Work with the College leadership and faculty to develop and/or update policies required by accrediting bodies.Provide oversight and guidance to faculty and staff working directly with medical student academic performance assessment and curriculum evaluation, directing initiatives to improve both assessment and evaluation strategies.Lead monthly CQI meetings to discuss data/outcomes, compliance, priorities.Report to and work closely with the Associate Dean and leadership team to facilitate strategic changes in the curriculum to enhance and improve medical education based on outcomes data and analysis.Serve as a contributing faculty member in the Dept. of Health Systems and Population Health Sciences.Assist faculty on curricular design and assessmentProvide student mentorshipDevelop and teach educational programs, courses, sessions in areas of quality improvement, ethics, professionalismConduct medical education researchRank & salary will be commensurate with academic achievements and experience.Full-Time: 1.0 FTEHouston is nation's fourth largest city that offers a great quality of life that includes affordable housing options in excellent school districts, world-class arts, pro sports, award-winning cuisine and employment opportunities in numerous industries throughout the region.The University of Houston is located in close proximity to the Texas Medical Center, which is home to The MD Anderson Cancer Center, UT Medical School, Michael E.
