Position Summary The Department of Pathology and Microbiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center seeks outstanding applicants for a tenure-leading faculty position within the area of Clinical Microbiology. The Primary responsibilities include technical and scientific oversight, test validation and maintenance of College of American Pathologists (CAP) accreditation of the microbiology section. The successful candidate will participate in leadership of professional laboratory staff and assist with directorship of the laboratory in collaboration with the department chair and other departmental leaders. Molecular microbiology expertise is desirable. A strong academic orientation is favorable, including evidence of scholarly achievement and proposals or current funding for translational or basic science research projects. Candidates must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. with 3-4 years of post-doctoral training or faculty experience. Board certification or board eligibility in CP or AP/CP (for pathologists) or the American Board of Medical Microbiology (for Ph.D. candidates) is required. The successful candidate will contribute to graduate education, including the successful mentorship of trainees. In addition, participation in training pathology residents, infectious diseases fellows, and medical students will be expected. Salary will be commensurate with experience and will include a university benefits package.
