The Department of Natural and Physical Sciences at Graceland University invites
applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position to start August 15, 2024. The
candidate should have a Ph.D. (ABD is acceptable) in biology or a closely related field
at the time of appointment and should have the experience/ability to teach Human
Anatomy. Candidates with a MS degree will only be considered for a non-tenure track
Assistant Professor term position. Preference will be for candidates with expertise in an
area with direct applications to pre-health/pre-medicine, such as physiology, molecular
genetics, bioinformatics, biochemistry, or another area that complements current
biology faculty (current faculty have expertise in cell biology/pharmacology and plant
biology/ecology). Duties include teaching courses for science majors (e.g., Human
Anatomy, Human Physiology, etc.) including laboratories, teaching courses for the
general education program, and some laboratory preparation/equipment maintenance.
Other duties include, but are not limited to, mentoring senior research projects, advising
students, continued professional development, serving on department and university
committees, helping to recruit prospective students, and providing other service to the
university. Review of applications will begin September 15, 2023 and will continue
until the position is filled.
