BUSINESS INSTRUCTOR

PART-TIME FACULTY

FALL 2023

College of the Siskiyous, located at the base of majestic Mt. Shasta, is seeking a noncredit adjunct Business Instructor beginning Fall 2023.

The College is seeking applications from individuals with the skills and characteristics necessary to provide exemplary service to students. It is a continuing goal of the College of the Siskiyous to hire and retain people who reflect the rich diversity of the District and its student body.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Teach department courses in-person including (but not limited to): Strategies of Business, Industry Specific Math, Business Applications, Entrepreneurial and Marketing, and Workforce Preparation.
Recruit students and promote the program in the business community.
Assist in developing curriculum and instructional strategies in a competency-based environment.
Remain current in the subject matter areas and the techniques of effective instruction.
Revise curriculum to maintain currency.
Advise students in program and career planning. Work with the Advisory Committee to develop a program that meets the needs of students and the community.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications The College of the Siskiyous follows the minimum qualification guidelines outlined in the "Minimum Qualifications for Faculty and Administrators in California Community Colleges."
General
1. Noncredit disciplines generally require a Baccalaureate degree in the discipline in which the course is offered (or a closely related discipline or the equivalent).
2.* Vocational, technical, and application courses (including noncredit) require an Associate's degree plus six years of professional experience or a Baccalaureate degree plus two years of professional experience.
3. Unless otherwise defined by the CCOA Minimum Qualifications, the minimum qualifications are the same as those for credit in the same discipline.
3. To qualify for a teaching position, all applicants must demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Desired Online Teaching Qualifications: Online instructors will ideally have taken a course in online pedagogy/andragogy (e.g., @One Introduction to Online Teaching and Learning) or possess a certificate in online teaching. Instructors should provide evidence of desired qualifications along with their application.
Online Instructor Requirement: Online instructors must be certified in the College's LMS, Canvas, before being assigned an online course. Instructors may provide evidence of Canvas LMS certification from another entity and should include their certificate with their application.

Desired Qualifications:
Community College teaching experience with students at multiple skill levels.
Computer expertise in teaching spreadsheets using QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, and business application software.
Proven ability or demonstrated potential to deliver instruction in a variety of formats, including:
Distance Learning experience with Canvas.
The ideal candidate will meet the minimum qualifications to teach at least one additional subject area.
Work experience in private or public sector business.

Adjunct employees have the choice of two retirement plans. CalSTRS (California State Teachers Retirement System), and APPLE (Accumulation Program for Part-Time and Limited Service Employees.)
Screening Process
Applications are accepted continuously for the listed positions and in any other discipline throughout the year. Applications for adjunct teaching positions will be used to create a pool of qualified applicants for future hiring. Applications will be kept on file for one year.
Conditions of Employment
Employees must satisfy all the pre-employment requirements prior to appointment that include but is not limited to tuberculosis clearance (EC 87408.6), fingerprint processing, and verification of their legal right to work in the United States.
