The Biomolecular X-ray Crystallography Center is recruiting a Senior Researcher.

We are seeking a detail-oriented early career team member to serve a central service-level support role in the lab. The selected candidate will be a team player in a world-class department and institution where your work and commitment to excellence matters.

The Biomolecular X-ray Crystallography Center at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is housed in the Department of Structural Biology and serves St. Jude researchers in all aspects of X-ray Crystallography.

The Ideal candidate will be:
  • Have a Bachelor's (or Master's degree) in a laboratory science with a strong interest in Structural Biology.
  • Interested in supporting the lab through lab operations responsibilities.
  • Has experience setting up crystallography experiments and is interested in advancing their experience in X-ray crystallography.
  • Well-organized, follow and write SOPs and keep detailed records.
  • A team player that is eager to learn and contribute to a highly collaborative environment.


The Center Director will provide hands-on training as needed, but any experience in crystallography, biochemistry, or structural biology is a plus.

Responsibilities
  • Efficiently support laboratory operations for a smooth user experience.
  • Maintain crystallization equipment and ensure proper training of use for walk-up core users.
  • Perform crystallization, crystal optimization and crystal harvesting.
  • Organize synchrotron trips including handling shipping dewars.


Minimum Education and/or Training:
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific area is required.


Minimum Experience:
  • Two (2) years of relevant, post-degree work experience is required with a bachelor's degree.
  • No experience is required with a Master's degree.
