Position Summary
The Center for the Ecology of Infectious Diseases (CEID) seeks a scientific programmer and data analyst to aide in research on the ecology of infectious diseases. The selected incumbent will work with teams of student, postdoc, faculty, and staff researchers engaged in various projects that elucidate the nature disease emergence, transmission, spread, and the potential effects of various mitigation strategies. The programmer will work with CEID's working groups, the Global Infectious Disease Intelligence Consortium, and provide technical support for other center activities, including sponsored projects.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Qualifications include scientific programming and data analysis in R, prior technical writing experience, and a broad background in environmental biology.
Physical Demands
Work in front of a computer screen for extended periods. Driving as needed to perform job related duties.

Scientific programming in R for projects related to disease mapping and modeling.
Percentage of time 25Duties/Responsibilities
Analyze data and produce images that communicate the relationships among the data represented (data visualization).

Assist with the acquisition of data relevant to project needs and manage database.

Preparing reports of work completed to share with the research community at regular project meetings.

Assist with writing proposals for external funding, predominantly contributing to proposal sections that discuss the development of software packages.
